American photographer who was one of the first photographers to take photos of snowflakes and was known for his way of capturing them on black velvet just before they melted.
He started trying to draw snowflakes in his family farm with an old microscope when he was 15 years old.
He is referenced in the 2006 song Black and Blue by the music group Tilly and the Wall.
He grew up with his family in Jericho, Vermont.
He is referenced in the 2006 film Snow Cake starring Alan Rickman .
