American screenwriter, author, blogger, film director and producer. She is best known for her feature-length screenplays for the films The Other End of the Line and Confessions of a Shopaholic . She blogs on her personal website and for websites including The Huffington Post and wowOwow. She has published two books: Between a Rock and a Hot Place: Why Fifty Is Not the New Thirty and Gratitude and Trust: Six Affirmations That Will Change Your Life.
In 1986 she played the role of a hairdresser's friend in Heartburn. She created the 1990 Fox TV series Babes.
In 2002 she wrote the screenplay for The Guru, starring Heather Graham . She wrote and directed the 2009 film Lucky Ducks. She used to have a podcast. She has commented that blogging helped her breach the divide from screenwriting to her first book.
She is married to Glenn Horowitz, a bookseller in New York. She is a mother.
