Former right-back, athlete, soccer player, and midfielder that played soccer professionally for 18 years until retiring in the year 2004. During his professional playing career, he primarily played soccer in several leagues across Germany.

As kid, he played within the Einheit Grevesmühlen youth ranks. He also played for TSG Wismar and Stahl Brandenburg during his youth soccer career.

He played in exactly 440 club matches during his professional soccer career. During that time span, he played in 275 matches with the German-based club Hansa Rostock. Upon retiring, he then began his professional coaching career with FC Hansa Rostock.

He was born and raised in Grevesmühlen, Germany.

He primarily played the position of right-back during his professional career just like Kyle Walker .
