ABOUT THOMAS HARRIS
American author and screenwriter who created the character of Hannibal Lecter. All of his novels were made into films. He wrote the book as well as the screenplay for Hannibal Rising .
He attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and majored in English.
He avoided publicity, granting a rare 1976 interview. He is reported to have struggled with the agony of writing his books and characters.
He lived in Florida with his partner Pace Barnes.
His novel The Silence of the Lambs was made into a film starring Anthony Hopkins .
