ABOUT THAO NGUYEN

American singer-songwriter who rose to fame as a solo artist and as the lead singer and songwriter for alternative/folk rock group Thao & the Get Down Stay Down. She has collaborated with a number of other artists such as Merrill Garbus , Joanna Newsom and Andrew Bird .

She started playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 12. She formed Thao & the Get Down Stay Down in 2003.

She has fundraised for Oxfam America alongside Dianna Agron .

Her parents are Vietnamese refugees.

She collaborated with Mirah on the 2011 album Thao + Mirah.
