She studied dance. Her first on-screen acting role was in the short film Peripheral Survivors as the character Shawntel. It was released in 2017.

She is also a voiceover actor. She has appeared in over 20 episodes of television throughout her new career.  She launched a YouTube channel called Sydney Smiles which grew to surpass 300,000 followers.  The channel is an extension of her work on The Smiles Family .
