ABOUT RAYMOND BLANC
French chef who opened the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons in 1983 and became one of the most in-demand chefs in England.
His father gave him a colander for his tenth birthday, and his mother taught him to cook vegetables he collected in his family's home garden.
He hosted the 2011 BBC program Raymond Blanc's Christmas Feast.
He had two sons with his wife, Jenny.
He admired the work of American chef and media personality Mario Batali .
