Best known for his role as sportswriter Ray Barone on the television show Everybody Loves Raymond . He would later star in the critically loved but lesser known show Men of a Certain Age. He also had a role in the NBC series Parenthood , playing Hank Rizzoli.

After attending the same high school class as actress fran-drescher.html">Fran Drescher , he had the opportunity to guest star on her sitcom.

He did voice over work in the animated film Ice Age .

He married Anna Romano in 1987 and the couple had twin sons in 1993.

He played the onscreen husband of Patricia Heaton 's character Debra Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond.
