ABOUT RAM LAL RAHI

Veteran leader of the Indian National Congress who also served as Minister of State for Home Affairs in P.V. Narasimha Rao's government between the years of 1991 and 1996. Over the course of his political career, he was elected to represent Uttar Pradesh's Mishrikh Lok Sabha constituency four times and also served twice as an MLA from Hargaon in Sitapur district.

He completed his education at Raja Raghubar Dayal Inter College in Sitapur before commencing his political career, earning his first legislative seat in 1969.

He was expelled from the Congress party in 2015 over allegations of anti-party activities, before ultimately rejoining the party in 2019.

He and his wife, Sundari Rahi, shared several children together including his son Suresh who went on to serve as BJP MLA from the very same Hargaon constituency he once represented himself.

After his death in 2020 at the age of 86, tributes and condolences were shared by prominent Indian political figures, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi .
