ABOUT PAUL KALKBRENNER
German electronic music producer known for his live acts, during which he takes disassembled tracks and puts them back together. His single "Song of Sand" went platinum. He also played the character Ickarus in the German film Berlin Calling.
He and his friend Sascha Funke connected over techno music growing up. They lived together in their late teens and began producing their own music.
He lived in East Germany until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
He was born to Carla and Jörn Kalkbrenner and has a brother named Fritz. He married Romanian DJ Simina Grigoriu in 2012.
He and Valentin Brunn are both German artists known for their electronic music, although Brunn is more of a traditional DJ.
