ABOUT NAT TURNER
Slave whose courageous act of leading a slave rebellion in Virginia on August 21,1831 unfortunately resulted in the adoption of new laws limiting the freedom of slaves. The rebelling slaves killed around 60 white people, but over 100 slaves were later killed by white militias as revenge.
He claimed that he received a vision in 1831, which convinced him that rebelling against his slave owners was his destiny.
He was mentioned in the Pulitzer Prize winning book The Confessions of Nat Turner by William Styron .
He had a wife who went by the name of Cherry.
He stayed true to his beliefs like Harriet Tubman .
