ABOUT MIHAI EMINESCU
Renowned Romanian Romantic poet whose best-known works include Luceafarul and Oda in Metru Antic. He also edited a Conservative Party newspaper called Timpul.
He studied in Vienna and became involved with the influential Junimea literary group.
In the late 1860s, he worked with several theater troupes, including the Romanian National Theatre. In 2021, his birthday, January 15, was declared Romanian National Culture Day.
His mother came from a Romanian aristocratic family. He and his sister were born and raised in the village of Ipotesti.
His writing was influenced by the work of German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer .
