He did several short films to start his career. He struggled with drug and alcohol addiction.

He and his mother co-hosted a web radio talk show called Radio Lifeboat With DG & Mickey Gooch. In 2020, he appeared in Bill & Ted Face the Music .

He began dating fellow actor Rebel Wilson . His parents Michael "Mickey Gooch" Sr. and Diane Gooch were the owners of The Two River Times newspaper.

He was featured in the film In the Name of God, starring Eric Roberts .
