ABOUT MICHEL ISSA
Lebanese-American financial expert and business executive who garnered public attention when he was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon. He has led a successful career in banking, international trade, and entrepreneurship and has served as the President & CEO of Newton Investment Group LLC. He is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Trustee. He has been involved in the rehabilitation processes of over 100 corporations. He is also a sought-after public speaker who has lectured at business schools and universities across the nation.
He grew up primarily in Beirut before moving to Paris, France, where he obtained an economics degree from the University Paris Nanterre. He initially intended to become a monk and studied theology at the Nottingham Hill University in the United Kingdom before realizing that it was no longer his passion.
He has been the recipient of numerous career accolades including the King's Award Compass Rose 2014 in Business, Social Entrepreneur of the Year, and the Global Gift 2016 International award.
In 2017, his wife Mariella was awarded model.html">Role Model of the Year in Sweden for her extensive charitable work.
He was appointed by President Donald Trump as the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon, a move aimed at strengthening connections with the Lebanese American community, especially following the administration's growing ties with prominent Lebanese figures such as Michael Boulos .
