ABOUT MANUEL UGARTE
Uruguayan professional soccer player who has made a name for himself as a midfielder for teams like Fénix, Sporting CP, and the Uruguay national team. He signed a five-year contract with Sporting CP in August 2021. He made his senior team debut for Portugal the following month in a 4-2 victory against Bolivia. In 2024, he joined Manchester United .
He joined City Park's youth setup before moving to the youth ranks of Fénix.
Upon being promoted to Fenix's first-team at the age of 15, he became the youngest player in the 21st century to play professionally in Uruguay. He scored his first goal for Sporting CP in a 2-1 victory against Famalicão.
His full name is Manuel Ugarte Ribeiro.
He and Sebastián Coates have played as teammates for Sporting CP.
