ABOUT JUNJI ITO
Writer and manga artist known primarily for his artwork contributions in the Japanese comic books Tomie, Gyo, and Uzumaki. His comic book Tomie and some of his other works have been adapted for film and television. He has garnered over 230,000 followers on his junjiitofficial Twitter page.
He began writing and drawing comics as a hobby while working as a dental technician in the 1980s. In 1987, he created a short story named Gekkan Halloween, which was later renamed Tomie.
He is credited for being a collaborator for the video game Silent Hills. He has won 3 Eisner Awards for his manga and comic book work.
In 2006, he married fellow comic artist Ayako Ishiguro. Together, they have two children.
In 2019, he received an Eisner Award for his manga adaptation of Mary Shelley 's Frankenstein .
