ABOUT JOSEPH GRANT
Nineteenth-century Scottish poet remembered for his work in the English and Scots languages. His best-known works include Kincardineshire Traditions and Tales of the Glens: With Ballads and Songs.
He began writing poetry at the age of fourteen and, around this time, worked as an assistant shopkeeper.
He worked for the Guardian newspaper in Dundee, Scotland.
The son of Isabel and Robert Grant, he spent much of his youth on his family's farm in Kincardineshire, Scotland.
He and William Sharp were both Scottish poets active during the nineteenth century.
