James Karinchak

ABOUT JAMES KARINCHAK

Professional relief pitcher who was drafted by the Cleveland Guardians during the ninth round of the 2017 Major League Draft. He was originally selected from Bryant University. He finished his collegiate career with the second-most strikeouts in program history.

He first began his professional career playing for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. He was later sent to the Lake County Captains.

He made his official major league debut pitching against the Minnesota Twins on September 14, 2019. He recorded three strikeouts in just over one inning pitched.

He grew up living with his family in Newburgh, New York. He is one of three siblings.

As a child growing up, he credited Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte as being some of his biggest pitching influences.
