ABOUT JACKIE HILL-PERRY

Spoken word poet widely known for her infusion of traditional Christian themes with her poetry and hip-hop music. In 2014, she released her debut rap album The Art of Joy.

She famously converted to Christianity in 2008 and, upon doing so, claimed to have converted from a lesbian to straight woman. She began spoken word poetry shortly after her religious conversion.

She recounted her life as a lesbian in her spoken word poem "My Life as a Stud," which was read at the Passion 4 Christ Movement. She appeared as a guest artist on the 2013 album Instruments of Mercy by Beautiful Eulogy.

She married fellow spoken word poet Preston Perry in 2014. The couple have four children: August, Autumn, Sage and Eden.

She collaborated with fellow Christian rapper John Givez and JGivens on the 2016 album Church Clothes 3 by Lecrae .
