ABOUT IVAN PICELJ
Painter, graphic designer, and sculptor who organized Zagreb's first Industrial Design Exhibition in 1955.
He became known for pioneering a form of geometric abstraction in Croatian painting that focused on primary colors and the reduction of shapes to their geometric components.
He co-founded Exat 51 and the New Tendencies movement.
He was born in the small village of Okucani. He died in Zagreb.
He and sculptor Granville Carter often used wood as an important artistic material.
