ABOUT HARVEY PARNELL

Democrat who held office as the 29th Governor of Arkansas from 1928 to 1933.

He worked as a bookkeeper and store clerk after graduating from Warren High School.

He helped to create Arkansas's state highway fund and Bureau of Commerce.

He married Mabel Winston on June 2, 1903. The couple had two daughters, Martha and Mary.

He held office as the Governor of Arkansas 79 years before Mike Beebe assumed the same position.
