ABOUT ELLA YOUNG
Poet who was a prominent voice in the Gaelic and Celtic Revival period of the late 19th and early 20th century. She became popular as the chair of Irish myth and lore at the UC Berkeley in the 1920s.
She attended Royal University and Trinity College, Dublin. She was a member of the Hermetic Society.
Her 1930 children's book The Tangle-Coated Horse and Other Tales finished as a Newberry Honor Book. Her 1932 book The Unicorn with Silver Shoes was illustrated by Robert Lawson .
She was romantically linked to famous writer Padraic Colum.
She met Sinclair Lewis and Lincoln Steffens while lecturing in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California in 1926.
