ABOUT EDWARD T. WELBURN
The lead automobile designer for General Motors, he was the first African-American to rise through the automobile manufacturing business's ranks.
He studied art and design at Washington, D.C.'s Howard University.
He helped design such vehicles as the Cadillac CTS, the Chevrolet Malibu, and the Buick Enclave.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
At different times, he and Harley Earl held the same job title within the General Motors Company.
