American painter who first gained fame for his science fiction and fantasy illustrations. He later turned to a more philosophically inspired style of fine art that he has described as a kind of romantic realism.

He attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

He received the Jack Gaughan Award for Best Emerging Artist in 1994.

His father Boris Vallejo is a notable science fiction and fantasy painter.

His art is inspired by the ideas of author and comparative mythologist Joseph Campbell .
