NBA guard mostly for the Los Angeles Lakers who hit one of the most famous shots in NBA playoff history with 0.4 seconds left on the game clock to lift the Lakers over the San Antonio Spurs in game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference Semifinals. He served as head coach of the New York Knicks from 2014 to 2016.

After seeing his half brother go down because of cocaine addiction, he vowed never to use drugs.

He won 5 NBA Championships as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

He had four children with Candace Patton, whom he was married to from 2005 until 2015. In the summer of 2021, he got married to Gloria Govan .

He played alongside Kobe Bryant for a number of years in Los Angeles.
