ABOUT CAROLINE ALICE ELGAR
Indian-born English poet whose composer husband, Edward Elgar, set many of her works, including "The Wind at Dawn" and "Fly, Singing Bird," to music. She also published an 1882 novel entitled Marchcroft Manor.
In her youth, she learned to play several instruments and studied under a well-known geologist.
She met her future husband while studying the violin with him during her high school years.
Her daughter established the Elgar Birthplace Trust in her memory.
Her husband, Edward Elgar , is remembered for such works as Pomp and Circumstance and the Enigma Variations.
