ABOUT CARMELO PACE

Maltese composer and professor of music known for his internationally-acclaimed symphonic poem "Jubilamus."

He played live accompaniment for silent films before studying at London's Royal School of Music.

He served as a Royal Air Force clerk and refugee shelter supervisor during World War II.

He was the son of Anthony Pace and Maria Carmela Ciappara. His first music teacher was his uncle Vincenzo Ciappara.

He was a contemporary of Soviet composer Dmitri Shostakovich .
