ABOUT ANDREW GREIG
Scottish writer, poet, and mountaineer who is known for his poetry collections "White Boats" (1973), "Men on Ice" (1977), and "The Order of the Day" (1990), along with several non-fiction works focusing on his experiences with mountaineering.
He originally wanted to be a singer and a songwriter as a child. He attended the University of Edinburgh before venturing into the world of writing poetry. He published his first poetry collection in the year 1972. He then became a resident writer for both the University of Edinburgh and Glasgow University.
He won an Eric Gregory Award in the year 1972. He can play several instruments including the guitar, the banjo, and the piano.
He was born and raised in Stirling, Scotland. His father was a doctor. He married novelist Lesley Glaister in the year 2001.
He was mentored by fellow writer Norman MacCaig and wrote the eulogy "Norman's Goodnight" in his honor.
