She began playing piano when she was two, and violin when she was three. She composed her first piano sonata when she was six. Her first opera, called The Sweeper of Dreams, was completed when she was seven.

In 2019, she received the European Culture Prize for her achievements in opera. She plays on a violin made in 1683 by classical violinist Antonio Stradivari.

Her parents are Israeli linguist Guy Deutscher and literature professor Janie Deutscher.

She has written a series of waltzes dedicated to the famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven .
